“Of all days, the
day on which one has not laughed is the one most surely wasted.”
Sébastien-Roch
Nicolas de Chamfort
What a beautiful quote, and taking that into account, then I have not wasted a single day. I want to ask you, when
last did you have a good laugh? Do you believe that laughter is indeed the best
medicine and that it also takes less effort to smile and laugh than it takes
to frown? More than that, laughter brightens up your day, it triggers healthy
physical and emotional changes in your body. It can reduce stress and anxiety
and enliven your collective emotional health.
Virgil wrote
the following in his Eclogues:
”Begin, baby boy: if you haven't had
a smile for your parent, then neither will a god think you worth inviting to
dinner, nor a goddess to bed.”
Isn't it wonderful
to smile? Give that single smile you have (if you only have one), to the people
you love. Don’t be gruff at home and then go out in the street and start
grinning ‘Good morning’ at total strangers. Rather smile to all and most
probably they will smile back at you. Smile to show your candidness and
transparency. The French writer, Milan Kundera, thought that the sound of
laughter is like the vaulted dome of a temple of happiness. There is so much
joy in laughter, and it would be so great if only all of us would embrace joy
and happiness and express this through laughter and an honest smile! I do hope
that you will not die without having laughed well, at least once in your life,
and please, don’t hesitate to show those rows of pearls.
Laughter, bubbling
up from within,
expressing joy for
all to be seen.
How much more
happiness there will be on earth
if only more will
open themselves up to mirth?
