Be Authentic in a Fake World.

“If you seek authenticity for authenticity's sake, you are no longer authentic.”
Jean-Paul Sartre

I wish to say something about being genuine to yourself as a matter of being authentic. I think that many people find it at times difficult to be who they are without pretending to be something or someone they are not. I believe the reason for this may be ascribed to a threefold internal conflict that people struggle with.

With this, I refer to the conflict between what we actually are, what we want to be, and what we pretend to be. What I strongly believe happens, is that people don’t know who they are, they, however, want to be someone but they don’t know how to become that someone, therefore they pretend to be someone they are not. Do you follow? The process of becoming who you wish to be must begins with a total acceptance of who you are. Strive to be as authentic to yourself as you can be. Always be who you are, don’t walk in the shade of another. Don’t try and live a life which others expect from you, a life which may impede your authenticity.

Let the world know you as you truly are, without any masks of deception. You will not lose any control when you let go of your pretensions. Remember, sooner or later, if you are posing to be someone you’re not, you will forget that pose. Where or what or even who will you then be? Time has a great way of removing masks and veils of deception. Oscar Wilde once observed that humanity is least itself when talking in their own capacity. Give them masks and they will tell you every bit of truth. Always strive to be yourself and not something you are not, especially in this predominantly FAKE world we find ourselves in...

I don’t need to wear a mask
and pretend to be someone which I’m not.
If you pretend, you will surely get caught.
Living an authentic life is not at all a hard task
